Dalgona Coffee Challenge

And so I caved in and made the trending internet sensation - Dalton Coffee all for the gram. Quite the perfect stay home thing to do during this time. It's easy enough using a hand whisk but go ahead and use that electric mixer if you don't mind the hassle of washing up. I wouldn't recommend using a free-standing mixer as that would mean doubling or tripling the quantity of ingredients just to get the whisk attachment to reach the mixture to beat it efficiently. The woes of whisking 2 eggs in a standing mixer.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of instant coffee (any brand that you fancy, not 3-in-1)
2 tablespoons of granulated white sugar
2 tablespoons of hot water

Put ingredients in a mixing bowl and whisk it until it becomes smooth, lump-free and frothy. I spent 3 minutes hand whisking it before it became thick and glossy looking. When you lift the whisk up, ribbons of the mixture dissolve back in and disappears. That's not ready yet for Dalgona. Whisk it harder in swift rapid motions for another 2-3 minutes until you arrive at a whipped cream semi-stiff consistency, almost meringue-like but less light and fluffy. This is a thick and viscous mixture you are working with but it should be much less fluid than what you had achieved earlier in 3 minutes. The ribbons don't disappear back into the mixture as quickly and it looks like a thick chocolate mousse.

Fill a transparent glass with ice cubes, pour milk till 3/4 full and spoon the luscious coffee cloud-like cream over. Jazz it up and serve!
